Episode 190: Quick Bite Lake Bled Cream Cake

This August, the hosts are TCB — that’s Taking Care of Baking — to tackle some of their #20for20 baking resolutions. They’re taking turns hosting bite-sized episodes to see you through the dog days of summer.

Stefin’s up this week with another Tasty Toponym — a food named after a place. In this case, Lake Bled, Slovenia, and the famous kremsnita or Lake Bled Cream Cake she ate last fall. Though the original recipe, from Hotel Sava, is a closely guarded secret, she thought this slightly untraditional version’s use of rum provided a delicious flavor profile. If you’re going to tackle this assembled dessert, be sure to read the recipe thoroughly, assemble your ingredients, and set aside some concentrated time. Though there’s a lot of downtime, you will be busy prepping the next step during most of it.

Andrea and Stefin will be back, refreshed and ready for the busy fall baking season, with full-length episodes starting September 7. In the meantime, check out some of the episodes you may have missed … there are nearly 200 of them!
